Having spent 2019 laying the foundations of the D&I programme at Chambers, Head of Chambers D&I explains the importance of this pro bono seminar:

“In our current political and social climate, we are becoming immune to seeing the most vulnerable communities living their lives in precarious and dangerous situations because of little or no access to legal advice. We have a duty to help and make a real difference. Chambers D&I will be focusing heavily on the pro bono output of the legal profession going forwards and we will be including this as an important part of our research. We are delighted to be partnering with De Brauw on this pro bono European seminar which highlights the great work of lawyers who are committed and determined to protecting human rights across the globe.”

De Brauw’s Pro Bono Committee Chair and Partner, Machteld de Monchy says:
Access to the legal system is fundamental to drive forward change and to guard human rights. As a law firm, De Brauw feels strongly that it has a responsibility to provide a helping hand to those in need, and to those who push for sustainable improvements both in society and in our environment. The potential of this responsibility is beyond the reach that our firm can have on its own. The legal profession’s impact will only increase if we collaborate and join forces. This European pro bono seminar provides an excellent opportunity for the sector to share knowledge and learn from each other. We are honoured to work together with Chambers, whom we applaud for taking the initiative to create this forum and push for change.
